A national poll conducted by Compas Inc. for the National Post and Global TV finds that 66 percent of Canadians support (with 50% saying they “strongly support”) maintaining the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others. The study finds that 60 percent of liberals support maintaining the traditional definition of marriage compared with 83 percent of conservatives.
The study also finds that two thirds of Canadians favour holding a national referendum to settle the issue.
