Polygamy May Soon Be Fully Legal in Canada

Legalized polygamy has been a hot topic ever since the defition of marriage was changed to include same-sex couples. In fact, while polygamy is not legal in Canada it is still practiced by radical Islamists living in parts of our country. GTA Imam Aly Hindy has even told reporters that within a 5 year span he has conducted over 30 polygamous marriage ceremonies. When the topic of the legality of polygamy in Canada arose, Imam Hindy stated “If the laws of the country conflict with Islamic law, if one goes against the other, then I am going to follow Islamic law, simple as that.”

To combat this horrific practice the Honourable Christopher Alexander, The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, has introduced a bill entitledThe Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act. This act will help the government of Canada to restrict individuals who wish to participate in barbaric practices such as polygamy from entrance into Canada. In an overview provided by the Government of Canada, the bill is stated to:

“Address polygamy through the creation of a new polygamy-specific inadmissibility provision in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, meaning:

temporary residents and permanent residents who practice polygamy in Canada could be found inadmissible on that basis alone, without the need for a criminal conviction; and if found to be inadmissible, the person could then be subject to removal.”
We applaud Minister Alexander for the bold stand against the barbaric practice of Polygamy, and want to encourage the government in their battle against group who conduct barbaric practices that oppose the values of Canadian society.
